That table is the answer, but it is also the warning label. “Grok price per month” is not one defensible number. A buyer asking about Grok could mean an X subscription, a standalone Grok subscription, a seat-based business plan, a custom enterprise deal, or token-metered API usage. Those are different purchase routes with different reconciliation problems.
The cleanest split is storefront first. X Premium and X Premium+ are X subscription tiers. SuperGrok Lite, SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, and SuperGrok Heavy are standalone Grok/xAI plans. Business and Enterprise move the question away from a personal monthly subscription and into seat count or custom procurement. If the card charge has to be explained to a client or finance team, the purchase route matters as much as the headline price.
For media teams, that distinction is not theoretical. X Premium tiers may already sit near X ads workflows, creator research, brand-safety review, or account operations; standalone Grok plans may sit with creative testing, research, and AI tooling. Why $30, $40, and $50 all keep appearing
The current official $30 figure belongs to SuperGrok on the xAI pricing grid as observed on Aug. 26, 2026. It is not the X Premium+ price, not the Heavy price, and not an API minimum spend. xAI also shows SuperGrok at $300/year, which is an annual purchase option, not a second monthly price [1].
The current official $40 figure belongs to X Premium+. X’s own Premium+ price-adjustment page lists $40/month and $395/year, effective Feb. 18, 2025, with regional variation [2]. xAI’s plan comparison grid also shows X Premium+ at $40/month in the Aug. 26 crawl [1].
The documented $50 confusion is older and narrower than many roundup pages make it sound. TechCrunch reported on Feb. 19, 2025, that X’s support page showed a new Premium+ monthly price of $50 while the U.S. checkout flow actually charged $40/month; the same report tied the price change to the Grok 3 release window [3]. That is evidence of a Premium+ support-page/checkout discrepancy in February 2025, not evidence that SuperGrok currently costs $50/month.
There is also an unverified social-post claim that SuperGrok moved to $50/month. This tracker does not promote that into a pricing fact because the Aug. 26 official xAI grid still displays SuperGrok at $30/month. If xAI changes the official grid or checkout later, the row should change; until then, the claim belongs in the quarantine bucket, not in the price table.
The stale prompt-cap problem
A second source of bad pricing guidance is the old prompt-limit language. In June 2026, Grok moved away from per-2-hour prompt caps toward a shared weekly usage pool, with Extra Usage Credits available as top-ups from $5 [4]. Third-party pricing trackers updated around Aug. 22, 2026 also describe the weekly-pool model and flag the retirement of the older per-window cap mechanics [5][6].
That does not mean every usage-limit number on the web is safe to copy. xAI’s public materials do not publish a full official consumer rate-limit table for every plan. The narrower supported statement is that the mechanics changed: old “X prompts per 2 hours” claims should not be used as current buying guidance unless a current official page states them.
The same caution applies to modality limits. xAI’s FAQ describes Extra Usage Credits and says that when high-quality video generation capacity is exhausted, generation may fall back from 720p to 480p [4]. It does not give enough public, plan-by-plan consumer quota detail to build a reliable unofficial cap table here.
Change log: why older Grok pricing pages disagree

The API does not answer “which monthly Grok plan should I buy?” It answers “what does usage cost if we build against Grok?” Those costs are metered by tokens and model route, not by the SuperGrok or X Premium subscription table.

The practical reconciliation rule is simple: do not use a SuperGrok monthly subscription as a proxy for API cost, and do not use API token pricing as evidence that a consumer plan has changed. They sit in the same product family, but they answer different procurement questions.
Free API-credit claims are not included in the table because public reports conflict: figures such as $25, $175, or no credit at all require xAI Console verification before they can be treated as a current rate-card fact.
